Get The ROLL INN Rollin'

The only place in Karachi -in my opinion at least- to get the best chicken cheese rolls is ROLL INN -boat basin, Clifton. This place is so popular, and probably the rolls so delicious that their rolls have become the center of attraction, or more accurately speaking -have literally blinded the curtomers of any other drawbacks in the place! I bumped into a boy from my own neighborhood back in Gulshan-e-Iqbal. I asked him what are you doing here with your buddies, he replied that he was there to eat the rolls!

I've gathered some pictures of the place while I was there myself waiting for the "waiter". Finally the waiter arrives and hands over the menu, after deciding what to eat me and my friends moved to the drinks section, guess what! they had "Letter" bottles of soft drinks being printed on the menu! Guess they have put a lot of thought when having those menus printed! Let me explain the magic of these super rolls! This place is so damn small that it can barely accommodate 20 people inside! The inside is filled with smoke from the burning coal! You have to pass through burning heat, smoke and exploding coals to actually have a seat! They have recently added more chairs outside which is open air, full of flies, dust and traffic pollution.

It gets so over crowded -though it does not look like so, as many of the customers prefer to stay put in their own cars. In such a small place they have overloaded it with waiters wearing that black and red uniform, of course they need to at least take the orders. The funny thing is that the waiters themselves make a cue at the counter!

First wait for the waiter, then wait for the waiter to wait to give the order at counter, then wait for the order to be ready, then wait for the waiter to bring it to you -but when he does it worth the wait!

THEN! finally wait for the waiter to bring the bill, and then wait for the waiter to bring the change!

:)

Enjoy Rolls!

Let hope for the best...

Karachi: Lots of Problems - Just One Solution. Train The Masses on the road!

I've been noticing traffic in Karachi for a long time now, and I think there is one solution "proper traffic laws" that can improve the situation of almost all over Karachi by training its people collectively. My though is that by implementing the law on the road, masses can be trained and when masses are trained the whole society improves. So here is my theory... I'm sharing these thoughts with you so that we can somehow make it work. OBSERVATIONS: A couple of my observations about Karachi Traffic are There are lanes, but no concept of lanes. There are speed limits, but there is never any limit to speed. There are three lights of signals, but only recognizable signal is the beamer from the on coming vehicle. There are left turns and there right turns, but most preferred are the "inappropriate turns". Going "wrong way" is the right way of driving. Use the indicators when done switching lanes or turning Honking is just like warm greetings, t...

Man vs. Market - By Kulsoom (extremely well written)

Original Link: Men vs. Markets : " “He is one of those people who would be enormously improved by death.” By H.H. Munro The above has proven to be correct for Syed Muzzamil Hussain Shah, a young scout who embraced martyrdom on 28th December, 2009 in Ashur procession blast in Karachi. But how many of us remember him? Or do we remember any of those who got killed that day? Off the record over 75 people got killed on that day while participating in the procession. We remember none but burned shops because that’s what being over-run on media. Sometimes significance of material takes over the precious lives. I wonder why and who called lives precious since they are not anymore. We have better things to show and cry over, such as loss of Rs.30 billion, stolen arms, and arguing and blaming political parties. Government of Pakistan announced Rs. 500,000 for the deceased and Rs.100,000 for injured but these funds will take time to arrive in the hand of families. With the increasing infl...
